INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis father and son are facing charges of intimidation against the Indianapolis Metro Police Department and a detective following a hit-and-run incident that killed a pedestrian in early March.

While walking along East Washington Street on March 1, Emily Martiniz, 43, was hit and killed by a driver who did not stop.

Court records claim that Emily’s father, Martin Thompson Sr., began making threatening posts to social media about IMPD, saying “you cannot trust any law enforcement” and “I really wish there was a national kill a cop day once a month.” He also said he was “going to celebrate every time I hear one is killed or wounded,” referring to law enforcement officers and “the only good thing I see is target practice so I’ll pray that at least one will be killed starting today.”

Authorities say the suspect’s son, Martin Thompson Jr., also wished harm upon officers and their families in comments he made online. That led to the felony intimidation charges against the two.

The vehicle involved in the fatal hit-and-run has been found, but the occupants of it have not been. Once arrested, the suspects have been ordered to post a $2,000 cash bond pending trial.
