STATEWIDE — A strong storm from Tuesday through Wednesday should bring Indiana some showers.

Meteorologist Alexander McGinnis with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis says some steady rain is expected Tuesday night.

“There could even be a rumble of thunder or a few thunderstorms across southern parts of Indiana. The main portion of rain will probably be in the Tuesday and Tuesday night timeframe, where we will probably have moderate rainfall across most of the region. We could get half of an inch to an inch. We could maybe even see more than that,” McGinnis says.

McGinnis says there could be additional light rainfall through Wednesday.

“For Tuesday into early Wednesday, there could be some stronger to maybe even severe thunderstorms toward the Ohio Valley, like Kentucky and far southern parts of Indiana. There is a little less confidence if there will be any stronger thunderstorms in central Indiana,” McGinnis says.

However, McGinnis says temperatures are supposed to be warmer than on Sunday.

“It could be in the 40’s to 50’s on Monday, nearing 60 on Tuesday, which will be the warmest day of the week, Wednesday will still be above normal around 50. Then, the rest of the week, starting Thursday, will be cool with highs in the 40’s to around 50,” McGinnis says.

McGinnis says wind gusts may take place Tuesday into Wednesday night.

“Wind gusts may be up to 30 to 40 miles an hour. It’s not quite as bad as last Friday when a lot of spots were gusting with 35 to 45 miles an hour,” McGinnis says.
