INDIANAPOLIS — After spending the majority of his life in a hospital, one infant recently got to go home…with a new heart.
In a press release, IU Health explained that 7-month-old Emmaus McCollum had spent six months at Riley Hospital for Children. But, thanks to a heart transplant, he was finally able to head home with his family.
McCollum’s transplant was also the 200th performed by Dr. Mark Turrentine. As the infant and his family exited the hospital, they received support from various doctors and nurses, who cheered for their success.
IU Health says, “Congratulations to Emmaus, his mom Carley and the entire heart center team at Riley Hospital for Children.”
