STATEHOUSE–A bill banning trans women from participating in college women’s sports has passed the Indiana House, requiring sports teams to be male, female, or coeducational.

Athletes assigned male at birth would be barred from female teams, with out-of-state schools needing to disclose trans women athletes.

Grievance procedures for violations would be established, allowing injured students to sue institutions. Senator Stacey Donato sponsored the bill. She says the bill aims to ensure fairness.

It faces opposition from the ACLU. The ACLU calls is discriminatory and unnecessary.

It has already been introduced in the Indiana Senate.
