COLUMBUS, Ind. — A couple and their dogs had to evacuate their home after a part of it caught fire.

One of the people from the home turned on a fan in the bathroom, which then they heard a loud popping sound. Later on, the people from the home smelled smoke, and that’s when they called firefighters.

Firefighters arrived at a home in the 5151 block of Montpelier Court, and then, the couple led them to the master bathroom in their home, where they say they were smelling smoke. Firefighters saw smoke as they went inside the bathroom, but they did not see fire yet. Then, they removed the drywall from the bathroom, and that’s when they saw fire within in the wall, and they quickly put it out.

Firefighters say the couple have to stay away from their home until it’s fully repaired.

No injuries were reported.
