Indiana Teen Stands Up Against School, Earns Young Patriot Award

In March, local Indiana teen Cameron Blasek was told by East Central High School administrators that he had to remove the American flag he had been flying on the back of his truck throughout the school year.
Blasek, who was a senior at the time, said he was called into the principal’s office and was told to remove the flag from his truck. Blasek said he had flown the flag from his truck for the entire school year without issues.
Blasek exercised his First Amendment right and refused to take down the flag, even checking the school handbook and Indiana state laws to ensure that he was free to fly the flag. He received support from other students who began flying the flag from their vehicles when they came to school and eventually the school administrators at East Central High School backed down.
As a result, Blasek was nominated for FOX Nation’s Young Patriot Award. The teenager from Indiana attended FOX Nation’s Patriot Awards in New York City and received the award last week.
