NORTH SALEM, Ind. — Police in Hendricks County are investigating after a man was found dead underneath a tractor Thursday evening.

Officers say 49-year-old Benjamin Love had been alone on his property near North Salem, as his family lived in Lizton. The goal was for his family to eventually move to the area, but they had not yet done so.

Apparently, a neighbor saw Love’s tractor running with its lights illuminated, but he could not see anyone in the driver’s seat. When he went to check on the situation, he found an unresponsive Love, stuck underneath the machine’s frame.

First responders later arrived, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. While officers say they do not suspect foul play, it is still not clear what led to Love’s death.

The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office says, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Mr. Love as they continue to navigate the tragic loss of their loved one.”
