Person Hit by Marked IMPD Car Has Died

INDIANAPOLIS — Just over one week ago, a person was hit by a marked police car while crossing the road. Now, Indy Metro Police say that person has died.

Police believe Rodney Huffman was hit by the marked car in the 8300 block of Michigan Road on Sunday, September 15th. An on-duty officer had been driving at the time and was not hurt.

Huffman was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but IMPD announced Monday afternoon that he later died.

According to the organization, he had likely been crossing Michigan Road when the officer turned from a parking lot and hit him. Specific details about what led to this incident have not yet been released.

Police are still investigating.
