Indianapolis Man Sentenced for 2023 Murder

INDIANAPOLIS – Marion County prosecutor Ryan Mears announced a prison sentence of 60 years for a man accused of murder.
Howard Moffitt was arrested after Anthony Drummer was found shot and killed in July of 2023. IMPD officers found Drummer in the 700 block of North Meridian where he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Court docs say Moffitt told officers at the scene that he was the one who shot Drummer and the murder weapon was in his backpack. Moffitt also confessed to a witness immediately after the shooting.
A jury handed in a guilty verdict after a two-day trial.
“This conviction and the enhanced sentence affirm our commitment to justice on behalf of victims and sends a clear message that this level of violence will not be tolerated in our community,” said Prosecutor Mears.
