INDIANAPOLIS — Depending on how much money you make each year, you may qualify for free electronic tax filing through the Indiana Department of Revenue’s free file program, INfreefile.

Indiana individual tax return filers with an adjusted gross income of $72,000 or less qualify to file both their state and federal taxes for free with INfreefile.

INfreefile uses the same electronic question-and-answer style vendor software most electronic filers pay to use.

“While nearly 60% of Hoosier taxpayers qualified for at least one INfreefile offer in 2020, only about 3% took advantage of this filing option,” stated DOR Commissioner Bob Grennes. “We are always encouraging Hoosiers to file electronically – it’s the more secure filing experience with significantly fewer errors and refunds are issued three times faster – and INfreefile offers an additional feature of being free.”

The four participating 2021 INfreefile vendors include:

  • OLT
  • TaxAct
  • TaxSlayer
  • TurboTax
