ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Nursing homes across the country are in short supply of personal protective equipment.

In order to make sure both workers and residents of nursing homes stay safe during the coronavirus pandemic, the federal government is shipping out boxes upon boxes of personal protective equipment to nursing homes all over the United States.

Vice-President Mike Pence was at a nursing home in Alexandria, Virginia Thursday to help workers unload their shipment of fresh PPE.

“This is one installment of deliveries from FEMA that will go to 15,400 nursing homes across the country,” Pence said. “The president wanted me to be here today to help deliver these gowns and gloves and supplies.”

Pence said the deliveries will be made in two installments. In all he says FEMA is sending out 63 million gloves, 14 million masks, 13 million gowns to nursing homes that need them.
