Amtrak Suspending Hoosier State Train in July
INDIANAPOLIS — Passengers may be unable to take certain trains to Chicago this summer.
Amtrak said it will suspend the Hoosier State train starting July 1.
The company says federal law requires states to pay a portion of the train’s costs. It says Indiana’s budget does not include that funding.
The trains normally run four days a week to and from Chicago and Indiana cities north of Indianapolis including Dyer, Rensselaer, Lafayette and Crawfordsville.
Amtrak said passengers can still take the Cardinal train, which runs between Indianapolis and Chicago, three days a week. Former Hoosier State passengers can also use Amtrak thruway buses.
