Honor Flight Northeast Indiana Takes 50th Trip to D.C.
Honor Flight Northeast Indiana marked its 50th flight to Washington, D.C. on Wednesday. This is a major milestone for the group, which has now flown 3,817 veterans to the nation’s capital.
Honor Flights are special one-day trips that take veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials built in their honor—at no cost to them. Any honorably discharged Veteran is encouraged to apply to take an Honor Flight.

On this special flight, 84 veterans took part. Most served in the Vietnam War. Others served in the Korean War, Cold War, and even in Lebanon and Grenada. Two of the veterans have received high honors—one with two Purple Hearts and another with a Bronze Star.
The Honor Flight Northeast Indiana 2025 flying season will consist of 5 trips. They will take 2 trips in the spring and 3 in the fall. Their goal is 85 Veterans each trip.

The flight left from Fort Wayne and flew directly to D.C. The Honor Flight Network comprises approximately 130 independent hubs across the United States. These special trips give veterans a chance to be honored and remembered. It also allows the community to say a heartfelt thank you.
