STATEWIDE-Indiana Governor Mike Braun signed an executive order requiring state departments to publicly report permitting data to improve transparency and efficiency in the permitting process.

The order directs the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, and the Indiana Department of Transportation to post monthly permitting data on their official websites.

This initiative is part of Braun’s efforts to support growth and make Indiana a favorable place for businesses. The order also mandates agency leadership to regularly review permitting processes to ensure compliance with timelines and maintain high-quality standards for issued permits.

Braun’s administration says they aim to enhance accountability and efficiency in the state’s permitting system to facilitate economic growth.

“My administration is committed to transparency and accountability, and we’re taking action to make Indiana the best place in America to start and grow a business. Permitting is an important part of growing our economy, and publicly reporting permitting data holds agencies accountable and makes them more efficient,” said Braun.
