COLLEGE BASKETBALL: FEB 23 Purdue at Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.—The Indiana Hoosiers upset 13th ranked Purdue at Assembly Hall in Bloomington on Sunday 73-58.

After trailing 37-25 at halftime, Indiana outscored Purdue 28-3 to begin the second half and eventually by a count of 48-21 by the time the game was over.

Indiana’s lead reach as high as 18 at one point. Purdue was doomed by 11 second half turnovers and 16 for the entire game which led to 23 Indiana points.

Hoosier forward Malik Reneau scored his 1000th point in his career and made all seven of his shots. He and Trey Galloway had 15 points. Galloway also had 9 assists.

Purdue guard and Fort Wayne native Fletcher Loyer did all he could to keep the Boilermakers in contention by scoring 20 points, but it wasn’t enough. Purdue’s only other double figure scorer was Myles Colvin with 11.

Indiana improves to 16-11 overall. They are 7-9 in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers face Penn State Wednesday at 8:30 pm. Pregame coverage starts at 7:30 on 93.1 WIBC.

Purdue is 19-9 and 11-6 in the Big Ten. They face UCLA at Mackey Arena on Friday at 8 pm.
