Person Shot During Back-to-Back Robbery Attempts

INDIANAPOLIS — A man is in the hospital with serious injuries after being shot during two robbery attempts early Wednesday at a strip mall near 86th Street and Zionsville Road, close to I-465.

Police arrived around 5:40 a.m. after reports of gunfire. They found the man, believed to be one of the suspects, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Officers say it started when the man and two others tried to rob someone nearby, but that person got away and called for help. The group then targeted another person, who was armed and fired, injuring one of the suspects.

Investigators are still sorting out what happened.
