INDIANAPOLIS — Expect some rain and gusty winds this morning, but it’ll dry up when kids are out for trick-or-treating later.
Today, 46 counties are under a burn ban due to unusually dry conditions. The National Weather Service reports that we are close to record dry levels for this month.
“Up to this point, at least for Indianapolis, we’ve been under a tenth of an inch, which, if the month would have ended yesterday, would’ve set the record for the month,” said Andrew White, a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.
White says that rain will linger for much of the day, but it will clear out by tonight.
“It looks like things will start to wrap up by mid to late afternoon, with at least parts of the state staying dry for the trick-or-treating this evening.”
Strong wind gusts, up to 40 miles per hour in some areas, will also be an issue today.
“If you have any Halloween decorations outside that are not secured, this morning would be a good time to bring them inside,” White advised.
Looking ahead to the weekend, expect mild temperatures and mainly dry weather, with a chance of rain on Sunday.
“The early portion of the weekend is going to be pretty good,” added White. “We’re going to warm up Saturday with temperatures in the 60s and sunny skies. As we get into Sunday, we expect rain to move in during the morning hours.”
