INDIANAPOLIS — A man who attacked women on the Cultural Trail in downtown Indianapolis and stabbed them will spend over 80 years in prison after pleading guilty to several serious crimes.

In June 2020, Victor Johnson faced 22 charges for stabbing multiple women over two days in the Cultural Trail area. All three victims reported that Johnson made unwanted advances, asking for hugs and to hook up, which they refused. This led him to attack them with a steak knife.

One victim was resting on a blanket at Veterans Memorial Plaza when Johnson approached and assaulted her.

Witnesses chased Johnson after one of the attacks and held him until police arrived.

Johnson ultimately pleaded guilty to 11 of the 22 charges, including attempted murder, attempted rape, and battery with a deadly weapon. On Friday, he was sentenced to 87 years in prison for his crimes.
