Indianapolis bar is ranked as one of the best in the country

Sam’s Silver Circle is a beloved bar in Indianapolis, Indiana. Located at 1102 Fletcher Avenue, it has been a neighborhood staple since 1938. Now, the establishment is receiving national attention.
This week, it made national news by being included on the 2024 USA TODAY Bars of the Year list. The list, created by USA TODAY Network food writers across the country, features a variety of bars from dank dives to Instagram-friendly cocktail spots.
Manager Raeann Eakle expressed her pride, saying, “I’m honored and proud of the bar and everyone who works here. We’re not always perfect, but everybody that comes in here, we want them to have a good time. That’s what we strive for.”
The walls at Sam’s are adorned with a floor-to-ceiling mosaic of license plates, beverage advertisements, and Sports Illustrated covers. This is one way Sam’s Silver Circle celebrates its 86 years of history. Located at the corner of Fletcher Avenue and Shelby Street, Sam’s was once a hotspot for the region’s best darts players. Now, it’s a quintessential neighborhood bar with affordable beer and greasy food. Beers are as low as $3, and the tavern-style pizza is a standout, with size and topping options displayed on a bright green basketball backboard.
Sam’s offers weekly events like karaoke, trivia, and bingo nights. There’s also a dartboard for those feeling confident after a few drinks. The bar’s unofficial slogan, “Follow me to Sam’s,” perfectly captures its inviting spirit.
