“Who Cares?” Trump Quits The Screen Actors Guild In Glorious Fashion
Former President Donald Trump quit the Screen Actors Guild Thursday after the group threatened to kick him out for his role in the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.
A SAG disciplinary hearing was scheduled to take place this week, but Trump beat them to the punch.
“I write to you today regarding the so-called Disciplinary Committee hearing aimed at revoking my union membership. Who cares!” Trump wrote in a January 4th letter to SAG President Gabrielle Carteris.
Trump expressed pride in his movie and TV work and accused Carteris of a “blatant attempt at free media attention to distract from your dismal record as a union.”
“Your organization has done little for its members, and nothing for me – besides collecting dues and promoting dangerous un-American policies and ideas – as evident by your massive unemployment rates and lawsuits from celebrated actors, who even recorded a video asking, ‘Why isn’t the union fighting for me?'” Trump wrote. “These, however, are policy failures. Your disciplinary failures are even more egregious.”
“I no longer wish to be associated with your union. As such, this letter is to inform you of my immediate resignation from SAG-AFTRA,” Trump concluded. “You have done nothing for me.”
WIBC host Tony Katz noted on his morning show that Hollywood elites are celebrating the letter as a perceived victory. Nothing could be further from the truth.
