Jonathan Taylor Discusses Offensive Outlook & Year Six

In 2020, Chris Ballard selected Jonathan Taylor in the second round of the NFL Draft. Since that selection, he has been one of the best running backs in the NFL despite poor quarterback play.
Taylor, 26-years-old, is coming off a season where he rushed for 1,431 yards (4th most) and 11 touchdowns (tied for 11th) on 303 attempts (5th most) in just 14 games.
The former Wisconsin Badger is poised for another dominant season for the Indianapolis Colts. No matter who is starting at quarterback, they will help Taylor to some degree. Both Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson are mobile and defenses must always account for their legs. Now what would really help Taylor get back to his 2021 efficiency is if Jones or Richardson can make the defenses worried about being beat by their right arm.
Something else that could help out Taylor is the fact that he should not be needed on every down this upcoming season. The Colts went out and signed veteran Khalil Herbert and drafted DJ Giddens. Last season the Colts did not get consistent production from any of their backup running backs, resulting in Taylor playing nearly every snap offensively.
Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor joined Query & Company Tuesday afternoon to discuss:
- How the Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson’s quarterback styles gives the Colts offense an edge
- Where he wants to improve this season
- What happened in practice between him and Grover Stewart
