A Bobblehead Worth Nodding About: Hoosier the Bison

The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum gave Hoosier fans something to nod about—literally—by unveiling the first-ever bobblehead of Indiana University’s new mascot, Hoosier the Bison.
The release marks the official return of the beloved bison mascot after nearly 60 years away. Hoosier the Bison will make its grand debut at IU’s first home football game on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Memorial Stadium.
The limited-edition, officially licensed bobblehead is now available for $35, with an $8 flat-rate shipping charge. Each one is individually numbered.
Hoosier the Bison stands proudly on a circular base wearing a crimson IU sweater and striped cream-and-crimson pants.
The mascot’s return started with the “Bring Back the Bison Act,” passed by IU’s Student Body Congress in December 2024. IU Athletics embraced the idea and made the bison a symbol of tradition, unity, and school pride.
Indiana and the bison go way back—the animal first appeared on Indiana documents in 1801.
The bobblehead is available now and will ship in January.
