SWAT Standoff Ends with Mooresville Man in Custody

MORGAN COUNTY, Ind. — A Mooresville man is arrested at the end of a standoff with SWAT that lasted multiple hours.
On Tuesday, deputies with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a man pointing a firearm at a person before leaving in a truck. Deputies then went to the home of 51-year-old Darrell Lewis and said they were “met with verbal assaults and gunfire” from inside the home.
The Morgan County SWAT team was then activated. Lewis finally came out of the home after two hours of being in a standoff in SWAT and was taken into custody.
According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, Lewis faces multiple felony charges including unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, intimidation with a deadly weapon, and criminal recklessness with a firearm. He’s also been charged with one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct.
The Morgan County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final charging decisions in the case.
