INDIANAPOLIS –Indiana is taking TikTok to court, saying the app misled users and broke state laws meant to protect consumers.

The state’s Attorney General filed two lawsuits, accusing TikTok of not being truthful about how it collects personal data and the kind of content it shows to kids and teens. But a judge in Allen County threw both cases out, saying Indiana didn’t have the authority to sue TikTok and the lawsuits didn’t clearly explain the claims.

Indiana appealed that decision and won. A higher court said the state has the right to bring TikTok to court and that the cases can move forward.

Now, TikTok is asking the Indiana Supreme Court to step in. The state’s highest court is set to hear arguments on June 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.

What happens in this case could shape how states handle future privacy and safety concerns with social media apps.
