STATEWIDE — Your weekend will end on a high note with mostly sunny skies and a high of 76 degrees.

However, Jason Puma, a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, says your work week is looking pretty gloomy.

“Starting on Monday through early Thursday, there will be chances for rain and thunderstorms each day as we’re seeing a pressure system that is going to be pushing through our region through the course of the middle of the week,” Puma says.

He says the He says the best day for rain and storms is Tuesday and again on Wednesday.

“Right now, on Tuesday, there is even a slight risk for some severe thunderstorms,” Puma says.

Puma says you need to pay attention to the forecast when Tuesday comes around.

“Be prepared to activate your safety plan, whether you’re at your home, your job, or your school,” Puma says. “If a watch or a warning is issued for your area, just be familiar with it.”

Puma says though you don’t have to cancel your plans altogether just because there is severe weather passing through. Puma talks about how much rainfall is expected throughout the week.

“We probably could see between a half of an inch and maybe up to two inches of rain in some places,” Puma says. “Isolated higher amounts and heavier showers could be possible as well.”

You may remember rounds of severe weather touched down in Indiana Friday evening.

“There was lots of damage reported really across southern Indiana, including Bloomington, Greene County, and points to east of Bloomington also across Brown County,” Puma says.

Puma says forecasters are not really expecting anything as far as a significant wind gust.

“That is out of the ordinary at this time,” he says. “During spring time, Indiana gets more wind gusts from time to time up to 20 to 30 miles an hour, but it’s nothing super significant.”

Puma says cooler weather will arrive during the middle of the work week.

“Your high on Monday will only be near 74, Tuesday will only be near 67, Wednesday will be near 66, and Thursday will be around 62,” Puma says.
