Woman Killed in Shooting Outside East Indy Event Center
INDIANAPOLIS — A woman was shot and killed Wednesday night outside an event center on the east side of Indianapolis, according to city police.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officers responded around 9:30 p.m. to the 6400 block of Massachusetts Avenue after reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found an adult woman with gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the shooting followed a disturbance in the parking lot. Detectives believe at least one man was involved and fled the area afterward. It’s unclear whether he left on foot or in a vehicle.
Officers found multiple shell casings at the scene, some of different calibers, suggesting more than one weapon may have been used.
Investigators are working to identify witnesses and are reviewing potential surveillance footage from the area.
