SPEEDING

INDIANAPOLIS — Speed cameras will start issuing tickets Monday to drivers speeding through a major construction zone on the northeast side of Indianapolis.

The Indiana Department of Transportation says enforcement begins in the Clear Path project area, where parts of I-465 and I-69 are being reconfigured.

The work zone is one of four across the state equipped with automated speed enforcement under the agency’s Safe Zones program.

Drivers caught going more than 11 mph over the speed limit while workers are present could face a fine of up to $150.

INDOT began sending warning letters to violators in January as part of a pre-enforcement phase. Since then, the agency says about 90,000 notices have gone out.
