Indy FOP Reaches Tentative Agreement on New IMPD Contract

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police announced Friday it has reached a deal with the City of Indianapolis on a new contract for IMPD.
The FOP says the contract will last for the next four years and will make IMPD one of the top paid police departments in the state. The new contract is also supposed to include higher starting salaries and an investment in officer retention.
According to the FOP, the tentative deal includes an average of a 24% increase in officer salary over the four years of the contract.
Statement from Indy FOP President Rick Snyder:
“After many months of hard work and good faith negotiations by the FOP and the City of Indianapolis, we have set the stage for the IMPD to first retain the officers we have, compete with surrounding agencies for new officers, and provide better wages and benefits for our officers and their families.”
A vote on the contract is expected to be completed by IMPD officers on December 5th.
