BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana University students are worried after they received racist text messages, including slavery and plantation.
One student told IU Police on Wednesday that they received a text message, telling them to “pick cotton” at the “Yuma Valley Plantation” and that an “Executive Slave” would arrive in a white van to pick them up. The student also said that other students received similar text messages.
IU Police haven’t said who sent these text messages, but they said these texts messages are being sent to students in schools across the country.
IU Police are working with the FBI. They tell students to let them know if they receive any racist text messages again.
