NEWTON COUNTY, Ind. — You may remember hearing about Newton County Corporal Brandon Schrieber, who was shot in the line of duty earlier this month. Police now say he will not survive.
The Sheriff’s Office provided an update Tuesday afternoon, explaining that the man’s injuries are too severe. But, officers note that he will continue to serve, even after death, as he is a registered organ donor.
They believe he was shot by Andrew Roselius on September 1st.
Roselius had entered the Hoosier state from Illinois during a police chase. It was believed that he had a hostage in his car, though no hostage was ever found.
The chase eventually moved back into Illinois, and Roselius was shot and killed.
Illinois State Police are leading this investigation.
