Hoosiers Start Off Cignetti Era With Victory Over FIU

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.—The Indiana Hoosier football team is 1-0. With a new coach in Curt Cignetti, the team was able to defeat FIU Saturday afternoon 31-7 at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington.
Indiana jumped out to a 21-0 lead thanks, in part, to two rushing touchdowns from Ty Son Lawson. He had 75 of the team’s 234 rushing yards.
In total, IU outgained FIU 414 to 182. The Hoosiers did have 9 penalties for 80 yards, which was something Cignetti wasn’t pleased with.
“You look around college football, you’re seeing that in the openers right now. It’s almost like they’re teachable moments,” said Cignetti.
Indiana plays Western Illinois this Friday night at 7 pm. You can hear the game on 93.5 and 107.5 The Fan.
