Connersville’s Spartan Bowl Wins Visit Indiana’s ‘Best Gym’ Contest
CONNERSVILLE, Ind. — Between the NCAA men’s basketball tournament and the high school boys basketball tournament, Hoosier Hysteria has been in full swing for the last few weeks.
That’s why Visit Indiana created a poll, asking Hoosiers which high school has the best gym in the state.
68 gyms around the state were nominated, and after counting more than 60,000 votes, the Spartan Bowl in Connersville was declared the winner. Nicknamed “The Grand Palace on Grand Avenue,” the Spartan Bowl has been home to the Connersville Spartans since 1958, and currently holds more than 5,000 people.
The New Castle Fieldhouse — the largest high school gym in the world — came in second. West Vigo High School’s Green Dome was third.
