“Mattress Mack” Is Back With A $3.46 Million Super Bowl Bet
The one and only “Mattress Mack” is making headlines once again with a massive bet on the outcome of this weekend’s Super Bowl.
The Houston furniture store owner named Jim McIngval bet $3.46 million that the Buccaneers would either win the game or lose to the Chiefs by less than three points. He’ll win $2.72 million if the bet pays off.
McIngvale routinely uses the betting market to mitigate risk on sales promotions at his furniture store. He had more than $11 million in play on the 2019 World Series between the between the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals, including a $3.5 million futures bet on the Astros that he placed with DraftKings in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Here’s what’s great about “Mack’s” bet: Customers who spend $3,000 or more on a new mattress at McIngvale’s store now through Sunday will get their money back if the Buccaneers beat the Kansas City Chiefs.
Fun Fact: The largest Super Bowl bet in history (officially, of course) happened 19 years ago when someone placed a $4.8 million money-line wager on the Rams to beat the Patriots with MGM in Las Vegas.
Please Note: “Mattress Mack” is no relation to “Mattress Man.” “Mattress Mack” makes sports wagers that benefit his customers. “Mattress Man” plays guitar and falls off mattresses.
Please Note: “Mattress Man” is no relation to “The Furniture Guy.” “Mattress Man” plays guitar, falls off mattresses, and is a fictional character from “Punch Drunk Love.” “Furniture Guy” does the exact same things as the “Mattress Man,” but he’s an actual person.
