IMPD: Very Young Girl Was Shot and Killed

INDIANAPOLIS – A toddler is dead after a shooting at a home on Indianapolis’ near northeast side — and police say the house had several guns lying around, unsecured.
It started just after noon on Friday, when a young girl was rushed to Methodist Hospital with a gunshot wound. She was in critical condition when officers arrived, but didn’t survive.
No exact age has been released, but police described her as “very young.”
Investigators believe the shooting happened inside a home in the 2000 block of Ralston Avenue. Homicide detectives got a search warrant, went inside, and found a crime scene — along with several unsecured firearms, according to police.
Detectives are still working to figure out exactly how the shooting happened and who was involved. So far, no arrests have been announced.
