INDIANA- White Castle is recalling some of their frozen burgers due to possible listeria contamination.
The announcement comes after they found the bacteria in one of its manufacturing plants.
The recall specifically involves packages of frozen six-pack cheeseburgers, hamburgers, and jalapeno cheeseburgers, and frozen 16 pack hamburgers and cheeseburgers. The best by dates range from August 4th, 2020 to August 17th, 2020.
The frozen burgers are sold in 13 states, including Indiana, at grocery stores including Walmart, Aldi, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Kroger, Sam’s Club, and Save-A-Lot.
White Castle released a statement on Friday.
“Our number one focus is the safety of our customers and our team members, and as a family-owned business, we want to hold ourselves to the absolute highest standards of accountability in all aspects of our business – and especially food safety,” said White Castle Vice President, Jamie Richardson.
Listeria can cause serious, sometimes fatal, infections in children and the elderly. Those with a better immune system may also suffer short-term symptoms including fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
