Rain on Wednesday

INDIANAPOLIS –Big changes are coming after those record-high temperatures, but today won’t be as hot. Expect temps to drop about 25 degrees, with highs only reaching the mid-40s. Rain is also forecasted for tomorrow.

“As we get into Wednesday, we are looking for some rain to move in during the day,” forecaster Jason Puma from the National Weather Service said. “Mainly in the afternoon. The chance of rain tomorrow is about 60 percent. If we look at points further north, some of that precipitation may start as freezing rain.”

The freezing rain will switch to regular rain by late afternoon as temperatures warm. During the 2-4 hours of freezing rain, roads may be a bit slippery, but since temperatures will rise as the rain continues, forecasters aren’t too worried about travel conditions.

“As we go through the weekend, we will have more winter-like weather,” added Puma. “On Friday, we are only expecting highs near 38, and on Friday night into Saturday, we’ll even have a chance for some snow with lows in the upper 20s.”

Rain will move in Wednesday afternoon and last about 2-4 hours. The Indianapolis metro area can expect around a quarter to half an inch of total rainfall.
