INDIANAPOLIS — Governor Mike Braun is shaking things up in state government, including eliminating the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Gerry Dick of Inside Indiana Business says DEI offices are being cut nationwide.

“I think we will see more of it,” Dick told WIBC’s Tony Katz. “There’s a feeling that there’s an acceptance of doing this now. In Indiana, part of that equation saw the governor talking about it on national TV.”

Meta, McDonald’s, and Indianapolis-based Lilly have all ended their DEI programs.

The end of DEI programs coincides with other major company changes, which critics argue favor the right following President-elect Donald Trump’s election.

Meanwhile, Indiana University cut 25 positions in its athletic department to prepare for revenue sharing expected from an antitrust lawsuit involving the Power Five conferences, including the Big Ten, where IU competes.

“This is not official yet, but it’s expected to take effect on July 1,” Dick said.
