CLARK COUNTY, Ind.–A man was shot in a road rage incident on Interstate 65 in Clark County on Friday afternoon.

Indiana State Police say just after 2 pm, a white Chrysler Town and Country minivan and a Ford Bronco sideswiped each other while going northbound on I-65. While they kept going north, police say the drivers kept slowing down, accelerating, gesturing, and motioning toward one another.

Both the minivan and the Bronco came to a stop on the northbound ramp at Exit 19 (Henryville). It was there that police believe both drivers got out of their vehicles and the driver of the Bronco fired shots from a handgun at the driver of the minivan.

The minivan driver left the scene and went to a nearby Circle K gas station in Henryville.

The driver of the Ford remained at the scene and spoke with state troopers when they arrived. Police say that the driver of the Bronco was on the phone with 911 operators during the entire confrontation with the minivan driver.

The driver of the Bronco was detained. The minivan driver was taken to a hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds.

“This remains an active investigation by troopers and investigators.  Additional information will be released as it comes available,” said State Police in a news release on Friday.
