Bite me once, shame on you. Bite me twice… what the hell was I thinking?

A surfer in Florida was bitten by a shark at the exact same beach he was bitten by a shark eleven years ago. Let that sink in.

There is statistically a 1 in 11.5 million chance of being bitten by a shark in the United States. Twice? Unprecedented.

The year was 2013. Cole Taschman, a 16-year-old was surfing right outside his parents’ home at the “Stuart Rocks” break at Bathtub Beach when a blacktip reef shark bit his right hand. A traumatic experience for anyone, but he did recover.

The year is 2024. Cole Taschman, now 28-year-old, was surfing in the exact same spot with two friends when an all too familiar feeling washed over him. He was bit by a bull or tiger shark. “Same beach, same exact rock, same place, same reef, same everything.”

The nine-foot shark snatched his foot tearing three – four tendons. After two surgeries, 93 stitches, and 10-15 staples he is now recovering.

We’re so glad to hear Cole is okay, but buddy, pal, amigo, let’s stay on land for a few years, huh?
