What Is Movember?

For those who have never really heard of the phrase Movember and your curious as to what it actually is, you’re in the right place.

You may have heard of No Shave November before and while it is not the same there are some connections.

What Is It:

Movember is a global initiative where men grow mustaches in November to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health.

It started in 2003 in Australia and encourages conversations and donations to support research and health programs.

The name comes from the Australian slang word for mustache, “mo”, and November.

What It Raises Awareness For:

Movember raises awareness for men’s health issues, specifically focusing on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention.

How To Get Involved According To us.movember.com:

Grow a Mustache – Patchy, lopsided, itchy or epic – whatever Mustache you grow this Movember, your face will raise funds and awareness for men’s health.

Move for Movember – Commit to running or walking 60 miles over the month, at your own pace. That’s 60 miles for the 60 men we lose to suicide each hour, every hour across the world.

Host a Mo-ment – Rally a crew and do something fun and easy. Hosting is all about having a good time for a good cause.

Mo your own way – Create your own challenge – it can be anything. A gruelling test of physical endurance or something else entirely. Your epic efforts will help change the face of men’s health.

What The Movember Foundation Does:

The Movember Foundation focuses on improving men’s health by funding projects related to prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention.

It aims to raise awareness, support research, and promote early detection and treatment.

Movember was started in 2003 by two friends, Travis Garone and Luke Slattery, who wanted to bring mustaches back into fashion.
