On Wednesday, a video circulated the Twitter-verse, of a Georgia police officer recounting a drive-thru incident at McDonalds that triggered anxiety.

The social media post, which has now been taken down, was posted by another user. The caption for the video read:

“Stacey who has been a cop for 15 yrs went to @McDonalds. She paid for it in advance and this is how she gets treated for being a cop.”

The officer explained tearfully in the video how she had ordered breakfast ahead of time. Her order was not ready when she arrived, so they asked her to pull forward. After a wait, an employee brought out her coffee. Stacey says at that point she told them to forget her food because she was “too nervous to take it.” She explained, “Right now, I’m too nervous to take a meal from McDonald’s because I can’t see it being made.”

The exhaustion and stress of being an officer is seen on her face. Her point seemed to be after employees saw she was an officer, she was afraid they would do something to her food.

However, that message did not come across to many. Several people on twitter replied with mockery and giving her the nickname “Officer Karen.”

OLD PERSON NOTE: *Karen, is slang for a middle-aged white woman who complains a lot.

Others, showed support and sympathy, including Donald Trump Jr.

McDonald’s also released a statement apologizing for the “longer than usual wait time.” They said they did reach out to the officer to make things right adding, “We are happy to report that the officer was never denied service and also shared positive feedback on the employee with whom she interacted.”

Whether you have sympathy or believe the officer was just exhausted after a long shift, it goes to show you never know how someone is feeling. In times like these, no matter who you are, we need to show grace to one another.
