(INDIANAPOLIS) – Indiana’s poultry farmers are putting turkey on food banks’ Thanksgiving table.

Every year since 1948, the Indiana State Poultry Association has used Thanksgiving week to highlight its food donations to the hungry. The 75 tons of turkey, duck, chicken and eggs donated this year are actually donated throughout the year — it goes to food banks across the state to be redistributed.

Governor Holcomb accepted an array of poultry products earmarked for Gleaners Food Bank at a statehouse ceremony.

Indiana is the nation’s third-largest turkey producer and the biggest duck producer.
