I-65 North Shutting Down South of Downtown Over the Weekend

INDIANAPOLIS — I-65 is closing down over the weekend just south of downtown Indianapolis.
The Indiana Department of Transportation says I-65 northbound will remain closed until early Monday at 6:00.
The stretch from I-65/I-70 interchange all the way to I-465 North is shutting down. These northbound ramps are also shutting down:
- Eastbound I-465 to northbound I-65
- Westbound I-465 to northbound I-65
- Keystone Avenue entrance/exit ramps
- Raymond Street entrance/exit ramps
- Morris/Prospect Street exit ramp
The closure is happening so drainage under the interstate can be improved. Additionally, the I-65 northbound bridge over Morris and Prospect Streets is set for demolition next week, closing those local streets nightly from next Thursday to next Saturday, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. There will also be I-65 lane restrictions during this demolition.
Crews will install a new bridge deck and beams. This work is all part of the larger I-65 Safety and Efficiency Project, designed to ease congestion on Indy’s south side through added lanes, pavement repairs, and bridge, sidewalk, and drainage upgrades.
Keep in mind, all these plans are subject to change based on the weather.
