Indiana Colleges Freeze Tuition for Two Years

STATEWIDE – All 15 of Indiana’s public colleges and universities have committed to freezing tuition and mandatory fees for in-state undergraduate students for the next two academic years: 2025-2026 and 2026-2027.
This groundbreaking decision comes at the request of Governor Mike Braun, who challenged institutions to find efficiencies and streamline services. According to state records, it’s the first time since at least 2010 that more than two campuses have simultaneously held tuition flat.
“The commitment made by all of Indiana’s public colleges and universities puts students and parents first,” said Governor Braun. This freeze aims to make a high-quality education more affordable, demonstrating Indiana’s leadership in accessible higher education.
Every major public institution in Indiana is participating, including:
Ball State University
Indiana State University
Indiana University (all campuses including Bloomington, Indianapolis, Kokomo, etc.)
Ivy Tech Community College
Purdue University (all campuses including West Lafayette, Fort Wayne, etc.)
University of Southern Indiana
Vincennes University
Samantha Fleischaker, a student member of the Indiana Commission for Higher Education, emphasized the impact: “Keeping tuition flat keeps the door open for students of all backgrounds, all ZIP codes, and all walks of life. It’s the difference between opportunity and what feels impossible.”
This unanimous commitment from the Commission for Higher Education marks a significant step toward ensuring educational access for all Hoosier students.
