MUNCIE, Ind. — Muncie’s EMS chief has been suspended after a domestic incident that happened in Jay County.

Miller was charged Monday with domestic battery in the presence of a minor under 16 and illegally entering a home. He’s been accused of entering a home in a domestic situation, with a gun visible in his waistband, according to court documents, and sending threatening texts before getting there.

The City of Muncie said Miller was immediately placed on administrative leave when they learned of the charges, to ensure an impartial investigation and maintain the integrity of services.

They added that the incidents had nothing to do with Miller’s duties as EMS chief and they did not take place in the city or Delaware County.

“We want to emphasize that these allegations are not connected to Chief Miller’s duties as an EMS professional and did not occur within Muncie or Delaware County. Nevertheless, the City holds its employees to the highest standards of conduct, both on and off duty,” read part of the city’s statement.
