Are you looking for sex, but can’t afford 5-star dining experience and tickets to the symphony? Why not take your gal to a horror film and scare the living crap out of her instead?

According to Lia Holmgren, a Manhattan-based intimacy and relationship coach, taking ladies to scary movies is a surefire way to get yourself some American ‘whoopee!’ That’s right! The more frightened you are, the more you want to get frisky in the bedroom.

The answer to ‘why’ is rooted in science, says Holmgren.

“This phenomenon is [from] prehistoric times, when we needed to bond especially in dangerous situations and increase the chances for survival,” she told the New York Post.

Holmgren cites a study conducted in Canada in the 1970s, in which men crossing a precarious, 450-foot suspension bridge in British Columbia showed greater attraction to a woman standing nearby than did men who had traversed a more sturdy bridge. The researchers’ conclusion: a misattribution of arousal.

“So when we’re watching horror movies, we have a state of fear and anxiety and it makes us have stronger feelings of sexual attraction towards other people,” says Holmgren.

Don’t delay, fellas! Take your Dirty Diana to a horror film at once!
