IINDIANAPOLIS — A 17-year-old was arrested Wednesday after an armed robbery at a gas station, which was on Indianapolis’ northeast side.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says officers arrived at the gas station, which is on Pendleton Pike, near Shadeland Avenue. They say the teenager hit a woman in the face using a gun. Officers found the woman, who was injured.

“She was stable, but thankfully, officers were able to get her the medical care that she needed and preserve the crime scene at the same time,” IMPD Officer Drew Brown says.

“Officers were able to learn about a suspect description, and thanks to the officers that were in the area, after a short foot pursuit, they were able to safely take the 17-year-old suspect into custody,” Officer Brown says.

Officers found two guns, one of which was the woman’s gun that was stolen. They also found drugs, including marijuana.

“We are very thankful for those officers’ efforts, and we are thankful that the injuries sustained were non-life-threatening,” Officer Brown says.

The teenager is facing the following preliminary charges:

  • Armed robbery
  • Battery with a deadly weapon
  • Marijuana possession
  • Possession of a machine gun
  • Resisting law enforcement

Officers say the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final charges soon.
