INDIANAPOLIS — A woman was killed in a shooting at a senior living facility on the east side of Indianapolis on Sunday.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police responded to a call around 11 a.m. reporting a person shot in the 1100 block of North Edmonson Avenue.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman with gunshot wounds inside an apartment. Medics from IEMS pronounced her dead at the scene.
“I do believe there was a firearm found inside the apartment,” said IMPD Officer William Young. “Not sure if that firearm is part of this investigation.”
Public emergency reports indicate the specific address police were dispatched to was 1123 N. Edmonson Ave., which matches Serenity Manor, a housing complex for adults over 55.
During the investigation, police detained a person of interest, later identifying him as 60-year-old Darrien Lee Curry. Curry was arrested and preliminarily charged with murder in connection with the shooting.
