Teenage Girl Found, Man Arrested For Child Sex Crimes In Pendleton

PENDLETON, Ind. — A Pendleton man is facing several charges for meeting up with an underage girl in Ohio and bringing her back to Indiana.
Connor Rivas, 31, is charged with child sex trafficking, sexual misconduct with a minor, and child porn.
Court documents say Rivas started messaging the 15-year-old girl on Snapchat on January 2nd and not long after that they arranged for him to pick her up in Ohio.
Last week, police found her in Rivas’ home lounging half-naked on a couch.
Rivas’ originally claimed to believe that the girl was 19-years-old, but the girl told detectives that Rivas’ did in fact know of her real age. She said he even told her to tell his family she was 19 if they asked.
The girl told detectives that she and Rivas’ had sex several times. They also drank and smoked pot. Detectives described his behavior towards the girl as “grooming behavior.”
If convicted, Rivas could face over decade in prison.
