INDIANAPOLIS – Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears announced a 48-year prison sentence for Julius Beverly who was found guilty of killing Da’Kylen White last December.

White’s body was found behind the wheel of his car on September 4, 2022, in the parking lot of a convenience store in the 4200 block of North High School Road.

Court documents say the shooting was captured on security cameras and the footage showed Beverly exit the passenger side of White vehicle. Beverly was then seen leaning back into the car before firing several shots at close range. Beverly then grabbed something near White’s waist and left the scene.

Beverly was convicted of two counts of murder and robbery resulting in serious bodily injury last December. A jury found Beverly guilty-as-charged after a two-day trial.

“There is absolutely no excuse for what occurred in this case— it’s simply a tragedy caused by someone who the victim considered a friend who had what can only be assumed to be a minor grievance,” said Prosecutor Mears. “It was inspiring to see the community step up and help us obtain justice for Da’Kylen and his loved ones as today’s resolution would not have been possible without them.”
